It was April 14th, 2018 and the smell of strawberries & Hot Dogs were in the air. The Lone Star State would welcome two young stars to the ranks of competitors for Coney Island. Poteet, Texas hosted a one of the most competitive qualifiers we have seen thus far on the 2018 circuit. Juan Neave (Ranked #23) & "Princess" Kassie Zapata (Ranked #43) proved victorious for the second year in a row as a qualifying (platonic) pair. The dynamic Texan duo joins the Finks to talk about the qualifier and beyond. Kassie discusses her post contest meal, how she was proposed to, and if she has a rivalry with the famed Mary Bowers. Juan proves he is here to stay and gives insight into his view on competitive eating, which is shockingly deep.

On March 31st, 2018, Miami hosted the first 2018 qualifier on the Road to Coney 2018. Hot Dogs, Sunshine, and America's Past Time. Marlins Park housed an event of epic proportions. The crowd roared as the People's Champ Eric "Badlands" Booked (Ranked #18) secured his 20th berth for the mustard yellow belt. However, a newcomer perhaps stole the show as Tracie "Shark" Dickerson (Unranked) won in her debut with an overtime eat off!! There is a ton to discuss as these two join the Fink Brothers to talk about the past, present, and future of their careers in Competitive Eating. Tracie explains her fandom of the Nathan's contest, paints a wonderful picture of her perfect July 4th evening, and the connection she had with the crowd in Miami. The Music City was playing a tune of patriotism & victory when the final count was made on October 10th, 2017. Tootsie's Orchid Lounge in Nashville, Tennessee hosted the final qualifier in 2017 for the 2018 Road To Coney. James was pleased. FINALLY, after a multi-year absence, Ronnie "DizzleFlex" Hartman (Ranked #32) dominated the competition by devouring 28.75 HDB. But one can't forget the newcomer - Brynn Szeles (unranked) emerged onto the scene & topped the women with 8.75 HDB. Join us as we chat with these two to talk about their long Road to Coney. The Pacific Northwest was an area that yearned for a Nathan's qualifier. They finally got their wish on September 4th, 2017. It was housed within the Bite of Oregon food festival - a four day event celebrating all things Oregonian cuisine while raising money for the Special Olympics. A noble cause that is a perfect match for the noble performances from, Erik "The Red" Denmark (Ranked #15) & the "Unstoppable B.A.B." Sarah Reinecke (Ranked #36) as they take their place at the table on July 4th. During this Spotlight, Erik talks about his 28 HDB performance & how it stacks up against his long history of qualifiers. Sarah goes over her personal best of 17 HDB in Oregon and how she views herself against her other female competitors. On August 12th, 2017, the Road to Coney 2018 officially began. The Iowa State Fair hosted the first qualifier for the 2018 Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Championship. A contest that is set to occur 326 days from the Iowa contest. When it was all said and done, Sophia DeVita (Ranked #24) & Juan "More Bite" Rodriguez (Ranked #12) secured their spot at the biggest table in sports by eating 19 & 28.5 Hot Dogs & Buns respectively. During this Spotlight, listen in to hear insights from both competitors as they prepare for Coney Island. How did wedding season play into Juan's choice of qualifier?
