April 21st, 2018 was a day so prestigious that it needed two Nathan's qualifiers! The first took "wild" and "adventures" to a whole new level. Mostly by combining them into a venue name - Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, Georgia.

Matt "Hungry" Hazzard (Unranked) & Dee Martin (Unranked) took their competitive eating careers to new heights, as they both secured their spots for July 4th.

Mr. Hazzard joins the Finks solo for this latest spotlight. Mrs. Martin never returned our messages and is probably using her better judgement keeping away from us.

Regardless, Matt proves he is an upstanding gentlemen & competitor all while discussing his competitive eating origins, his experience in Valdosta, and what he hopes to accomplish on the 4th.

Perhaps most notably, an interesting wager is made between Hazzard & Fink - tune in to find out the details!!

Three condiments & two contests - That is on the docket for this episode of FBTS.

Joey Chestnut has launched his condiment line and we are trying it out live in studio! I am sure this type of visual/tasty activity will translate very well to audio podcasting.

Then we discuss The John's Incredible Pizza World Pizza Eating Championship, as well as the National Sweet Corn Eating Championship. Can Esper's arms get any bigger? Is Matt Stonie in trouble going into the 4th? Can Carmen look more like serial killer?

All this and more!

It was April 14th, 2018 and the smell of strawberries & Hot Dogs were in the air. The Lone Star State would welcome two young stars to the ranks of competitors for Coney Island.

Poteet, Texas hosted a one of the most competitive qualifiers we have seen thus far on the 2018 circuit. Juan Neave (Ranked #23) & "Princess" Kassie Zapata (Ranked #43) proved victorious for the second year in a row as a qualifying (platonic) pair.

The dynamic Texan duo joins the Finks to talk about the qualifier and beyond. Kassie discusses her post contest meal, how she was proposed to, and if she has a rivalry with the famed Mary Bowers. Juan proves he is here to stay and gives insight into his view on competitive eating, which is shockingly deep.

Too much information? Perhaps. Entertaining? Always.

On March 31st, 2018, Miami hosted the first 2018 qualifier on the Road to Coney 2018. Hot Dogs, Sunshine, and America's Past Time.

However, a newcomer perhaps stole the show as Tracie "Shark" Dickerson (Unranked) won in her debut with an overtime eat off!!

Tracie explains her fandom of the Nathan's contest, paints a wonderful picture of her perfect July 4th evening, and the connection she had with the crowd in Miami. The Pacific Northwest was an area that yearned for a Nathan's qualifier. They finally got their wish on September 4th, 2017.

It was housed within the Bite of Oregon food festival - a four day event celebrating all things Oregonian cuisine while raising money for the Special Olympics.

A noble cause that is a perfect match for the noble performances from, Erik "The Red" Denmark (Ranked #15) & the "Unstoppable B.A.B." Sarah Reinecke (Ranked #36) as they take their place at the table on July 4th.

During this Spotlight, Erik talks about his 28 HDB performance & how it stacks up against his long history of qualifiers. Sarah goes over her personal best of 17 HDB in Oregon and how she views herself against her other female competitors. All this plus the old school vs. new school of eating, what the purpose of competitive eating REALLY is, and much more!
